What is a Trust Circle?

A Trust Circle is a secure, identity-verified workspace you create for a specific client or matter. You invite members, upload documents, manage signing, and track everything in one place - without email chains, shared drives, or version confusion.

Do my clients need a ZealiD account to join?

Yes - clients verify their identity once through the ZealiD app when they accept an invitation. After that they access their Trust Circle directly without re-verifying. The identity verification step is what makes the workspace compliant and legally defensible - it's not friction, it's the product.

How many people can be in a Trust Circle?

Up to 9 members per Trust Circle - one owner and up to 8 additional members. Members can be internal (colleagues from your Business Account) or external (clients, counterparties, advisors).

What can members do inside a Trust Circle?

Members can view, upload, and download documents. The Trust Circle owner controls who can initiate signing. Signing requires the document owner to initiate - members sign when invited to do so. All actions are logged.

Is the signing in Trust Circle a real qualified electronic signature?

Yes. Every signature in Trust Circle is a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) issued under eIDAS by ZealiD as a Qualified Trust Service Provider on the EU Trusted List. It carries the same legal effect as a handwritten signature across all EU member states and the UK under Article 25(2) of eIDAS.

Do clients need to download an app?

Yes - signers use the ZealiD app to confirm their identity and complete signatures. The app is available on iOS and Android. The Trust Circle workspace itself is web-based and works in any browser without installation.

How is Trust Circle different from SharePoint or Google Drive?

SharePoint and Google Drive have no identity verification, no qualified signing, and no compliance structure built in. Trust Circle verifies every member's identity before they join, produces legally binding qualified electronic signatures that are self-validating, and creates an auditable record of every action - meeting the requirements professional services firms face under AML, GDPR, and eIDAS.

Where is my data stored?

All Trust Circle data is stored in the EU - in Sweden. ZealiD is a Swedish company regulated by the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS) and operates under EU data protection law including GDPR.

What happens to the workspace after a matter closes?

Documents remain accessible and downloadable by the Trust Circle owner. Signed documents are self-validating PDFs that can be stored independently of the platform. If you delete a Trust Circle, it is recoverable for 30 days before permanent removal.

Can I have multiple Trust Circles running at the same time?

Yes. There is no limit on the number of Trust Circles you can create. Each one is a separate workspace with its own members, documents, and signing workflows - one per client, matter, or project.
